Choice $2750 New August 27! No Arrows, Crusty Gray Patina, Choice Surfaces, West Texas Collection. The 1853 No Arrows date is recognized as one of the Liberty Seated quarter series rarities. Mintage is reported to be 44,200 with two delivers of about equal amounts during February 9 and 17, 1853. As the value of silver bullion exceeded face value, many were immediately exported and melted leading to a rare issue for present day numismatists. PCGS population reports indicate single digit population in most grades with limited auction appearances. This West Texas release is new to GFRC. Both sides features a thick crusty gray patina during in-hand inspection that shifts to delineated rose and blues under a bright light. Surfaces are entirely unabraded with strong rims. Since the L in LIBERTY is missing, this lot is not a CAC candidate. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2025) holder.
