Pinkish-orange patina fills the rims and protected areas of this low-mintage San Francisco piece, contrasting with the steely gold fields. Survival of 19th century branch Mint coinage is often a matter of chance, and CAC reports only a single Mint State piece, MS62, which the CAC guide prices at a whopping $72,000. This piece remains well-advanced within the CAC condition census, bested by only four pieces in AU58 and the single MS coin.
