Isn't this cool that GFRC has had the privilege of handling both PCGS VF20 graded 1871-S Seated quarters per this newly consigned example. Mintage is a tiny 30,900 pieces and well recognized as being rare due to low survival rates. Due to heavy circulation in the frontier western United States, few survivors are known. This example presents brownish-gray toning on the obverse while the reverse is an even coin gray. Fields and devices are entirely blemish free. If the 1871-S date remains as a hole in your Liberty Seated quarter date and mintmark set, then now may just be the time to acquire a higher circulated grade specimen with strong device details.
