Given its tiny mintage of 4,240, this 1890 half eagle issue is a proverbial collector challenge in all grades. Luckily, the Tenafly Collection Liberty half eagle release includes this AU58 certified example with CAC approval. A premium specimen with moderately mirrored fields and a honey green-gold coloration with lighter shades appearing during an angled light review. The obverse fields exhibit light chatter that is typical seen at this offered grade and of no consequence to collecting pursuits of rare U.S. gold. The CAC census includes 19 in all grades with four finer. Sold into the Tenafly Collection during December 2021 with excellent illustrations for an aggressive bidding strategy.
