 Original $1600 New December 1! Semi-Key San Francisco Date, Original Dirty Surfaces, Lakeland Collection. The Lakeland Collection released not one but two 1865-S Liberty Seated quarters for the price list. This VF35 example is a survivor from California mining towns with moderate wear and a substantial amount of "dirt", especially on the reverse motifs. Mintage is a low 41,000 pieces with the late die states exhibiting a ground down lower obverse die with the top of the 86 date digits being weak or even partial on lower grade specimens. This offering is toned a natural coin gray and is unquestionably original. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert.
