$415 		Thick Crusty Patina, Choice Original Surfaces. Thick gray and gold shades blanket the surfaces of this richly-toned Seated half, with occasional crust embedded in the protected areas. This example is well-struck, with only a couple soft stars and minimal blending of the feather detail in the eagle's left leg. The Wiley-Bugert reference describes the 1869-S as a better date, with a mintage of 656,000 pieces. Examples at the EF-level are an excellent entry point, as the price guide nearly doubles at the next higher grade. Housed in a PCGS Gen 4.6 (2013-2014) holder. December 1969
