Rare Civil War Date, Original Charcoal Gray Surfaces, Accurately Graded, AuburnNY Accordian Collection. A challenging Civil War date issue with small mintage of 14,000 pieces. Checking the PCGS population report reveals a total of 60 pieces in all grades from G4 through MS66. That total is evenly divided between 29 is all circulated grades and another 31 in mintage. The 1863 date stands out as being most challenging in lower circulated grades also. Accurately graded at the Fine 15 level with original surfaces and charcoal gray patina throughout obverse and reverse. Rims are bold and well raises and surfaces are entirely blemish free. A quality offering that deserves special consideration. Housed in 2014 generation PCGS holder. Another rare Civil War date offering from the AuburnNY Accordian Collection. December 1969
