Description: Estes Sea Strike "D" model rocket kit #1332 appeared in the 1980, 1981 and 1982 catalogs. The kit utilizes a Version 2 rainbow paper hang tag (large letters) and multi color 'Model Rocketry" emblem along with a multi color facecard including an in flight two stage Sea Strike "D" rocket against a night time sky background. The classic Estes launch sequence diagram is visible on the center left side of facecard.
This kit is frequently listed at other reference sources as being produced from 1980 through 1983. However, the kit is only shown in the 1980-1982 Estes catalogs. I would like to know if this kit does exist with a black paper hang tag with blue letters typical of the 1982-1985 production era.
The Sea Strike "D" is a skill level 3 scale like ship to air missile with two stage "D" power. Estes estimates that flights of up to 1800 ft can be achieved in the two stage configuration.
Kit Contents: The kit features two main and one booster body tubes, plastic nose cone, two 24mm engine mount kits, two die cut balsa sheets, stage coupler, multi color decal sheet, 12" parachute, launch lug and instruction sheet.
Availability: This kit is considered to be very scarce and desireable due to infrequent appearances on eBay and a limited three year catalog offering. Locating an original kit with a pristine rainbow hang tag will take considerable patience and luck as the paper quality for rainbow hang tags is thin and easily cracked.
