Counterfeit 101
Obverse 1: Obverse of 1849 F-101, Thin Level Date
Reverse A: Medal Reverse Die Alignment

Obverse 1 Reverse A
Comments: This specimen appears to be casted as the obverse characteristics match that of 1849 F-101. The thin date digits and date placement are the diagnostics for the conclusion. 1849 F-101 is the most common 1849 variety, therefore one could expect that a U.S. Mint coined example was employed for a casting model.
This dime was first reported to me as an 1849-O with a mintmark below the wreath! After some correspondence with the owner, the coin was sent along for verification and finally purchase.
