Comments: Most 1866-S dimes will come with a weak mintmark as Varieties 101 and 103 are more common than 102. The reverse
employed for Varieties 101 and 103 was previously used for a small amount of coinage in 1865. Variety 102, with the Small
Thin S mintmark, is very scarce and comes weakly struck at the head and at OF AMERICA.
