 Choice $535 Repunched 8, Deep Gray Coloring, Peripheral Ebony Shades, Choice Surfaces, Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. The 1843 F-104 obverse can be attributed by a bold date punch that nearly touches the base. The date punch is positioned at DR -2C and on well struck examples, faint repunching can be seen at the lower left base of the 8 digit. The repunching at the base of the 8 digit can be seen on this fully struck Mint State example but will take careful inspection. Gray patina is the dominant coloring with darker shades at the obverse periphery and embedded center rose on the reverse. The choice original 1843 F-104 dime was employed as the plate coin within The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collection commonly known as the web-book. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert. Purchased at a Heritage Auction March 2013 and offered at that purchase price.
