$550 		Scarce Date, Very Low CAC Population, Encrusted Surfaces. 1852-O strikes continue to be underrated with new offerings quickly disappearing from the GFRC price list. This date's rarity is further exemplified by a low CAC population of 21 approved pieces. CAC has approved only two at the EF40 and EF45 grade levels respectively, along with a single AU50 example. The offered specimen is the definition of crusty original. Both sides are covered with a base coin gray layer along with overlaid greens and gold on the obverse and ebony-blue and orange-gold on the reverse. Bright light inspection exposes traces of obverse luster. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2021) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
