Based on the cataloger's research, the 1869 F-106 proof die pairing is the most difficult to locate among the three separate die pairs to have struck the 600 minted. It is estimated that only 12% of the mintage was produced with this die pairing. This Evergreen State Collection lot offers swaths of bold peripheral toning in olive-russet, sandy-red and steel-blue that frame pewter-gray surfaces. Fully struck with a granular frosted preservation and bright mirrors under a bright light. The presentation is consistent with many Seated dimes that recently arrived to market from the James Allaire Millholland Collection, 1842-1911. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2025) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
