New April 10! Mottled Blue-Rose Toning, Residual Frosted Luster, New Orleans Collection. Consignor Price Reduction. 1838 saw the first dime coinage at the New Orleans mint. Those strikes were accomplished with a No Stars obverse dated 1838 while the Philadelphia mother mint had already adopted the No Drapery with Stars design replacement. This well preserved example showcases the second F-102 die pairing with eroded dies and a full defined mintmark. Mottled rose-blue covers the obverse while the reverse has traditional ring toning. Under a bright light, the residual frosted luster presents a nice glow. A late die state strike with heavy metal flow lines on both sides. From the New Orleans Collection. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder. December 1969
