 Choice $2150 New March 15! Scarcest Civil War San Francisco Date, Steely Reflectance, Choice Original, Lakeland Collection. Unquestionably, 1861 San Francisco struck dimes are the scarcest Civil War issue with rapid wear of the device high points due to the low relief Type 1 obverse design. Weak obverse strikes are also commonplace, especially starting with the 1863 date. The Lakeland is releasing several key date dimes including this offering. This example is accurately graded with golden-gray toning that is consistent on both sides. Fields are unabraded and pleasing under a 10x. Most notable is the residual steely reflectance that appears under angled listing. I'm certain that this offering would be a substantial upgrade for many Seated dime collections under construction.
