Choice $995 New April 4! Cracked Obverse, Rich Frosted Luster, Peripheral Copper-Gold, Evergreen State Collection. The 1838 Liberty Seated dime date is well known for its three major cracked obverse die varieties along with a vertically cracked reverse. Not often recognized as being in the same league of importance is the F-104 die pairing with its cracked obverse. In this case, the die crack is not bisecting but rather, two bold cracks originating at the rims at 7:00 and 2:00. This Evergreen State collection release presents a late die state example with the die cracks as advanced as I've seen during years of researching and dealing. The steely-frosted luster is brilliant under angled lighting with the right obverse field die crack being seen without a loupe. The overall strike is hammered while unabraded surfaces round out the positive attributes. A choice example that will pleased the selective collector. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.0 (1998-2002) holder.
