 Gem $3800 Broken 18(80), Condition Census Example, Steely Frosted Luster, CAC Approved. 1880 Seated dime mintage was limited to 36,000 and fairly consistent with its 1879 and 1881 peers. Many collectors view these three consecutiver mintage years as a continuum. This newly consigned example is an exquisite superb Gem with steely-frosted radiance with brilliant mirrors under a bright light. The mirrors are no surprise as circulation strike were accomplished from reused proof dies. Surfaces are essentially untoned with light gold at the borders. A late date issue and an exceptional condition census specimen. F-102a with broken 8 and 0 digits in the date punch. PCGS has graded two at MS67+ with two finer.
