Securing an 1847 Seated dime at the Mint State level requires patience and diligent searching given the low survival rate. Thick, steely-frosted luster compliments the grade rarity for this CAC approved example. The strike is essentially complete with just a touch of weakness at the upper left reverse wreath leaves. F-103, with the top of a misplaced 7 digit to the lower left of the final 7 date punch. Though the CAC census is reported as 31 approved, this date is limited to six total in Mint State with three finer at the MS63 level. One of those, from the Fortin Collection, recently sold for $8765 during its January 2025 auction sale. The CAC $2500 price guide value is understated.
