Liberty Seated Coinage Open Registry
Liberty Seated Quarters Basic Set, Business Strikes
The Liberty Seated Quarter open registry, as explained on the main registry page, is an opportunity to showcase both certified and uncertified circulated (and uncirculated) seated quarters. The purpose of the registry is simply for enjoyment and to promote the awareness of seated coinage. Though there is sure to be some good natured competition, there are no awards, luncheons, or parades – just an opportunity to share the additions to your seated quarter set.
A set of Liberty Seated Quarters complete by date and mintmark, if not the most challenging such set in US numismatics, is most certainly on the short list of contenders. Those who have completed, or nearly completed, a Liberty Seated Quarter set in any grade merit the title “dedicated numismatist”. The basic set of 108 coins, which excludes most major varieties, has 79 issues with an estimated rarity of R4 or higher (less than 250 pieces known) in grades of XF/AU. No less than 15 different dates / mintmarks are estimated to have fewer than 30 pieces known in this grade range. Certainly, the pursuit of a seated quarter collection requires uncommon patience and persistence, but also provides uncommon opportunities for those who love the thrill of the hunt. Most important for those patient, persistent, and dedicated aficionados of the Liberty Seated Quarter is the understanding that whether you own five of these wonderful coins, or multiple sets, it is all about the collecting journey, not merely a destination. Enjoy the hunt!

The Basic Set input form can be downloaded at the following link; Microsoft Excel Format. Only an Excel format is available to simplify open registry workload. Please email your completed input forms to wuximems@hotmail.com or info@www.seateddimevarieties.com and efforts will be made to quickly post your set or recent updates! With time there is an idea to include digital images for individually listed coins.

Definitions
% Completion: Number of coin entries divided by total entries requirement to complete a set; for Basic Set, Business Strikes Set, then 108 entries are required for a 100% completion.
Set Weighted Grade: The grade of each coin is multiplied by the "rarity factor", then summed and divided by the total of the "rarity factors" for those coin entries in the set.
Set Rating: The grade of each coin is mutiplied by the "rarity factor", then summed and divided by the total of all "rarity factors" for a completed set.
Rarity Factor: The rarity assessment for each date or variety is based on availability in grades of EF-AU and uses a scale of R-1 through R-8 with a R-1 weight being the most common while a R-8 weight being the most difficult to locate. Rarity estimates are from Greg Johnson with the Larry Briggs Liberty Seated Quarter book as reference.
