Variety 102a

Obverse 2.2: Late Die State of Repunched 1843/1843

Reverse B.2: Shattered Reverse Die

Obverse 2.2                                              Reverse B.2

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)                  Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Obverse 2 shows considerable loss of repunching details during this later die state. It is possible that Obverse 2 was polished to eliminate the repunching as the depth of the base and Liberty is reduced from the initial die state of Variety 102.

Reverse B displays a bisecting die crack from the ST(A)TES, down through the upper left wreath, down through (O)NE D(I)ME and through the bow knot to the rim. Other die cracks are shown via the enhanced mapping of Reverse B above.
