Comments: Ahwash 2 has been an elusive variety for the author. This variety should be easy to diagnose with its slightly upward sloping date. It should be noted that most of the 1850-O varieties in the Ahwash encyclopedia are illustrated by plate coins where the obverse and reverse photographs are taken from different coins. For example, the obverse of A-1 is the same photograph as the obverse for 1850 A-3. The photograph matches the reverse plate coin for 1850 A-3. In the same manner, the photographs for Ahwash 2 and Ahwash 3 do not match. Therefore a level of uncertainty exists about the obverse attributes for A-2. To help future research by the reader, I have included a scan of the A-2 obverse plate coin from Ahwash's encyclopedia as a placeholder for the Variety 104 obverse.
