Obverse 5                                               Reverse D

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)                    Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Both Ahwash and Greer listed this variety as a repunched 1. However after checking with John McCloskey, who supplied Kam Ahwash the A-4 plate coin, it was discovered that Kam Ahwash mistakenly recorded a piece of foreign material below the flag of the 1 in the date as repunching. I wish to thank John McCloskey for this confirmation of his plate coin. Therefore, moving forward, this variety will no longer be assigned a repunched 1 designation.

Obverse 5 diagnostics include a considerable amount of obverse radial die lines evident in the breast area. The (S)TATES is partial.

Doubling above (O)NE and (D)IME on Reverse D is readily visible. A diagonal die scratch from DIM(E) to the wreath is also present.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS64 CAC Green
