Comments: Both the obverse and reverse dies show a considerable amount of die cracks. Obverse 2 exhibits a die crack through (STATES) and into Liberty's head. Another die crack starts below the previous on Liberty's head and proceeds through the cap and into (OF). Another die crack is visible above the top of the shield. This crack is unconventional for a With Legend obverse die. See the enhanced mapping above. On the reverse die, a large die crack begins at the rim at 2:30, moves downward through the corn husk and outer oak leaf and exits to the rim at 4:00. The die appears ready to shatter and could potentially produce some coinage with a large retained cud.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS64
