Description: Estes Rogue model rocket kit #0818 was part of the Mini-Brute series and was produced from 1973 through 1982. This listing is specifically for the initial kit offering during 1973-1974 with a Version 1 yellow skill level hang tag and printed $1.35 in the white pricing oval. The Version 1 skill level facecard is yellow and white color with overlaid grey, white and black static Rogue rocket. Rocket specifications and engine recommendations are found on the lower portion of the facecard.
Since the Rogue kit spans ten catalog years, the kit can be found with different skill level face card and hang tag combinations. At this time, no estimate or understanding of rarity for the difference hang tag variations is possible.
The Rogue is an 13mm engine powered scale like sounding research vehicle type rocket. Recovery is with a 10" parachute.
Kit Contents: The kit contains a main body tube, balsa nose cone and screw eye, die cut fins, a 13mm engine mount, 10" parachute, decal, launch lug, dummy engine and display stand and instruction sheet.
Availability: It is estimated that the Rogue kit is "very scarce" for the first 1873-1974 production years while certain hang tag versions may be easier or more difficult to locate. The above illustrated kit sold for $73 on eBay during May 2012 which is well on the high side of eBay results from the 2008 through 2011 kit database. Clearly more eBay research is necessary to catalog each kit packaging version and determine potential rarity.
