Description: The Polaris model rocket kit #1324 first appeared in the 1979 catalog with follow on appearances in the 1980 through 1984 catalogs. I am assuming the 1979 to 1981 kits were packaged with a Version 3 skill level hang tag while the 1982 through 1984 kits used the black paper hang tag. All Polaris kits, regardless of year, used the same Version 2 skill level facecard with the rocket launch sequence in the background.
The Polaris is a skill level 1 sport kit with a payload section. It is powered with traditional 18mm engines and safely returns with a 12" parachute.
Kit Contents: The kit features main and payload body tubes, plastic nose cone, balsa nose block, 18 mm engine mount kit, a die cut balsa sheet, multi color decal sheet, 12" parachute, launch lug and instruction sheet.
Availability: I believe the Polaris kit with black paper hang tag is more available than the yellow skill level hang tag version. However, both can be located on eBay with some patient searching.
