Comparion of Counterfeit with 1842 F-101

 

 

 

Comments: 1842 counterfeit exhibits a copper alloy core and remains of a silver wash. Die alignment is normal coin turn with approximately 10 degrees right reverse rotation. Features a reeded edge. Designs are taken from dime struck as normal mint product. Reasonable chance that an F-101 dime was used to extract design elements. Above specimen does not exhibit typical cast characteristic and maybe die struck.
