Comments: Obverse 2 is also paired with Reverse A. During this die pairing, Reverse A is very weak and may have been polished or lapped prior to the pairing with Obverse 2. Weakness is evident at the denomination and also within the left wreath leaves. The Small Weak S mintmark is marginally visible on the plate coin. After years of searching, I believe the die pairing to be the most difficult of the three 1871-S varieties to locate.
