Comments: The 1875 date presents variety collectors with a host of obverse die research opportunities. Kam Ahwash indicated
that at least fifty pairs of dies were used for this year's mintage. The author's analysis has only catalogued a fraction
of the potential repunched or misplaced dates. Additional work will be necessary to define all the obverse dies and to
assess their rarity levels. In the meantime, I have designated most varieties as R2 since there is no basis for a higher
rarity designation.
