1842-O
Variety 102
Obverse 2: Medium Level Date
Reverse B: Medium O, [mm Rt,L,TR11], Die Crack Rim Through STA(TES)

Obverse 2 Reverse B
Obverse Diagnostic Point(s) Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Reverse B is weakly hubbed with delicate device details. The Medium O mintmark is tilted sharply right with a measured tilt of 11 degrees. Its placement is lower than the Medium O mintmark on Reverse A. Die cracks are visible from rim through STA(TES) and are the primary diagnostic. Both Obverse 2 and Reverse B are surprisingly well struck for a product of the New Orleans mint during 1842.
