Scarcity: Common in all circulated grades but, for some unknown reason, Mint State examples have been difficult to
locate since 1999.

Comments: A date that is challenging for identifying the individual die varieties. Date position variations are limited,
therefore collectors must focus on other obverse attributes, when available. None of the examples examined to date show
excessive die wear or major die cracks allowing for speculation that more obverse dies exist when considering the high
mintage of 1,887,500 pieces. Locating an example of Variety 103, which has no rim cuds, may be accomplished by looking
for coins with heavy die lines on the reverse. Variety 103b, with the two opposite obverse rim cuds, is the key variety
for this date and will prove to be extremely challenging to locate.
