Comments: Obverse 5 is typically described as an 1845/1845 since all four digits show signs of repunching. This repunched date obverse is first paired with Reverse F.

Reverse F can be identified by a die crack starting at STATE(S), through (OF) and exiting to the rim above (A)MERICA. As Obverse 5 degrades, a horizontal die crack will develop through the lower portion of the date digits.

To qualify for inclusion in the Top 100 Varieties set, the 1845/1845 repunched date obverse must be paired with Reverse F and not the subsequent Reverse G die pairing.
