Variety 102

Obverse 2: Proof Die, Medium Level Date

Reverse B: Proof Die, Die Defects On DI(M)E, Reverse Of 1863

Obverse 2                                               Reverse B

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)                   Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Reverse B was previously employed during 1863. There are several die defects on Reverse B that deserve discussion. A defect is found under the base of ON(E). There is a diagonal defect on the lower third of D(I)ME. Finally, a die defect is visible on the left diagonal of DI(M)E.

I believe that proof Variety 102 is the more difficult to locate than proof Variety 101.
