Comments: Ahwash states that dies should appear very rusted on business strikes. Secondly, he indicates seeing business strikes from this die pair and the possibility of a few proofs. From my own observations, this die pair was used predominantly to strike proofs. An inspection of the Heritage Rare Coin Auction Archives shows 7 out of 7 1865 proof coins auctioned in the past four years to be from this die pair.
