Obverse 2                                                 Reverse B

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Obverse 2 is a very rusted die. Significant areas of rust are visible throughout the shield, lower gown and area under Liberty's left armpit. There are two diagonal and parallel die scratches on Liberty's hip just above the upper tip of the shield. Reverse B, in proof die state, appears to be perfect. I cannot find evidence of the die defects near the base of the right upright of DI(M)E nor the defect in the upper field area above (DI)ME. Ahwash had documented these defects in his encyclopedia, but his research may have been performed on later die state business strikes.
