1865

Variety 102b

Obverse 2.2: Rusty Die, High Date, Slight Upward Slope

Reverse B.3: Clashed Die

Obverse 2.2                                             Reverse B.3

Comments: Ahwash lists this die state variety. He describes the variety as "Dies clashed, leaving, at 12:00, the base and parts of the date from the obverse. This appears to be a die crack, but when turning the coin completely around, so that the top is at the bottom, you will see some of the date in the field around the wheat grains". 1865 business strikes are rare and locating an example of this die state variety has proven to be an unsuccessful task.
