Comments: 1870 dimes are typically seen well struck and with few die cracks. The Ahwash A-1 variety has proven to be very elusive for this researcher. After years of serious examination of Seated dimes, I have been unable to locate an example of this date placement variety. The same situation existed for Ahwash's A-4, the repunched 1 variety. However John McCloskey, President of the LSCC, confirmed this variety to be a mistaken attribution by Kam. Therefore 1870 Ahwash A-4 and Greer G102 variety listings have been proven to be erroneous and should no longer be defined as a repunched 1. Instead I listed Variety 105 above as the date position variety for A-4 die pair. Value As A Date (Coin World Trends/CoinValues
