Variety 101

Obverse 1: High Date, Downward Slope, Partial S, Die Lines in Shield

Reverse A: Perfect Die

Obverse 1                                               Reverse A

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Obverse 1 has a high date that slopes downward. There are a significant number of die lines within the lower shield and immediately between the right shield edge and the adjacent vertical gown line.

This listing may create some confusion. Ahwash's listing of A-1 was illustrated by two photographs, each photograph being from a different obverse die. I have decide to associate the A-1 listing with the obverse pictured by the macro photograph. The other obverse photograph was of the blundered proof obverse and should have been placed on the page with the A-3 listing.
