Comments: Once again, arrows were added to 1874 obverse dies to mark the shift of planchet weights to the metric standard of 2.5 grams. The arrows of 1874 were typically placed in a horizontal plane with the date, but many arrows point upwards. This contrasts with 1873 With Arrow dimes where the arrows point consistently outward in a horizontal plane or, on occasion, point downward. Weak heads are a problem for some of the 1874 dimes, but patient searching will reward the collector with full head examples. Repunching of the date digits and arrows has been identified on many obverse dies. Value As A Date (Coin World Trends/CoinValues
