Variety 104a

Obverse 4.2: Heavily Clashed Die, Repunched Left Arrow, High Date, Slight Upward Slope

Reverse D.2: Heavily Clashed Die

Obverse 4.2                                                 Reverse D.2

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Both Obverse 4 and Reverse D are heavily clashed in this die state. Obverse clashing is readily evident between the top of the date digits and the base. A boldly clashed DIM(E) is also visible at the right of Liberty's forearm. Repunching on the left arrow remains very clear. On the plate coin, there are traces of repunching below the left most point of the crossbar in the 4 digit.

Reverse D shows heavy clashing through DIM(E) and within the field area between ONE DIME and the right wreath.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS62
