Comments: As Greer points out, the Small S mintmark of Reverses B and C is slightly taller than that of Reverse A.  I have 
not seen or know of a Medium S for this date as listed by Ahwash (A-1).  His reverse photo of a Medium S mintmark is identical 
to that of the Medium S reverse for 1886-S.  At this time, this variety is unconfirmed.  1884-S dimes are not often seen with 
die cracks, indicating a reasonably balanced usage of the three die pairs to produce the year's mintage.  Variety 102 seems
to appear more often than the other four die pairings and is considered an R3 in grades of VF through Mint State.
