Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)                   Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Date placement on 1837 proofs is identical to that of Large Date business strikes. The presence of repunching on the base of the 7 digit confirms the reuse of the Obverse 1 proof die for business strikes.

Reverse A has a die scratch between rim and S(T)ATES. Additional diagnostics include diagonal die line through top of E and a second through the middle of S in STATES.
