Variety 103b

Obverse 3: Small Date, 7 Digit Points Between Two Denticles

Reverse C.2a: Horizontal Die Crack Rim to ONE DIME, Normal Die Alignment

Obverse 3                                                Reverse C.2a

Comments: During early 2013, an example of Variety 103a with the reverse die crack through UNIT(E)D and into the wreath was located within a group of Liberty Seated dimes consigned by Jason Feldman. During the photography process, it was noted by the author that the reverse had normal coin turn die alignment and lacked 23 degree reverse rotation which is to be expected for this variety.

The discovery of this piece indicates that Variety 103a and 103b die states were struck as different production batches with separate reverse die alignment.
