Comments: Few Proof 1841 dimes have been mentioned in the numismatic literature. The Dave Lawrence numismatc firm, when cataloguing the Richmond collection, indicated that the 1948 Allenberger sale had one example catalogued as Proof by Mehl. That specimen was then sold to Pittman and later recognized by Breen as a Proof. Another Proof 1841 With Drapery was catalogued by Bowers in a March, 1997 sale. The Richmond example, as illustrated above, brought a high bid of $46,000.
