With Arrows - Hubbed Date and Arrows

Variety 111a

Obverse 11: Doubled Upper Loop of 3 Digit

Reverse K.2: Retained Cud at (UNIT)ED

Obverse 11                                              Reverse K.2

Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Reverse K is in its final die state and has badly degraded. A portion of the reverse die has broken away between (UNIT)ED and the rim. A significant retained cud has formed in that location. There is also a die crack from the rim above the M in AMERICA that drops down through A(ME)RICA.

All 1853 With Arrows dimes with retained cuds are considered rare and should command a 2x to 3x premium above Coin World Values.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS VG8
