Variety 102

Obverse 2: Medium Date, Downward Slope

Reverse B: Lightly Clashed Die

Obverse 2                                               Reverse B

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: This variety tends to be weakly struck at the head and breast areas. Ahwash indicates that A-1a is a later die state of the proof die, Obverse 1. However close inspection of his plate coin revealed that A-1a and A-1 are different obverse dies based on date placements. There are die chips around Stars 3, 4 and 6.

Reverse B is lightly clashed.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, EF45
