Obverse Diagnostic Point

Comments: The date position and die chips around Stars 2 through 8 and Stars 12 and 13 are the primary diagnostics. The 5 and 9 digits are closed. Obverse 7 is only known 1859 obverse with Denticle Ruler measurement DR 1L.

Reverse G is perfect on the plate coin.

Locating fully struck 1859 dimes with complete head details, complete obverse star center points coupled with full reverse wreath leaves will be very challenging. The author searched for over 10 years to locate a PCGS MS66 example for his registry set that was completely struck up. At the Philadelphia 2012 ANA convention, the plate coin crossed the Stack's Bowers auction block.
