Reverse B.2: Rim Cud at 12:00, Small Thin S, [mm Lt,C], Reverse of 1861
Obverse 1 Reverse B.2
Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)
Comments: A late die state Reverse B continues to degrade and produced this plate coin. The denticles show significant erosion. The die crack at 9:00 to the left wreath is visible. A rim cud has formed at 12:00. Brian Greer originally listed this variety on a pricelist in early 2005. Luckily, I was able to locate a higher circulated grade example for this variety listing at the Boston Bay State Show, November 2005.
Once again the plate coin exhibits a typical Obverse 1 strike resulting in a flat head.
Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, EF40
