Type II Reverse - Variety 109

Obverse 9: Medium Level Date, Die Line Above Pendant, Clashed Die

Reverse H: Perfect Die

Obverse 9                                                Reverse H

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Obverse 9 can be identified by a medium level date and a Denticle Ruler measurement of 0B1. There is a die line visible immediately to the right of the scroll end and above the pendant. Previously, I had suggested that this die line might be the top loop of a misplaced 8 digit. After seeing the Mint State plate coin, I am convinced that this artifact is only a die line, nothing more.

Obverse 9 is moderately clashed while Reverse H exhibits traces of die clashing.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS62 CAC
