Variety 111a

Obverse 11: High Date, Slight Downward Slope, Open 9

Reverse K.2: Rim Cud at 11:30

Obverse 11                                            Reverse K.2

Comments: Obverse 11 remains in the same die state as Variety 111 and has an open 9 digit in the date. The entire date punch is weak in this working die. There is a small die defect in the shield by shield line 9.

This later Reverse K die state has a notable rim cud at 11:30 and minor die cracks in the wreath. The rim cud should be sufficient for identification of this later die state.

Flat head strikes seem to be the rule for this variety.
