Obverse Diagnostic Points

        

Comments: This is the only 1860 dime obverse that has a date with upward slope, though marginally. Both the left and right bases on the 1 digit are thin. The 6 digit is closed. Ahwash indicated that A-2 had a medium level date, but I prefer to define the date position as slightly upward. Ahwash also mentions that a "dot" defect can be found between shield lines 6 and 7. Close inspection of the plate coin revealed this "dot" defect along with another between shield lines 2 and 3. See the photograph above.
